Summary of my winning project in Pureinsights 2024 Hackathon
I originally wrote this blog for the Pureinsights website.
Last November, we gathered in the beautiful city of San Jose, Costa Rica, for our annual Pureinsights Company Kickoff — a time to align, strategize, and, most importantly, innovate. One of the standout moments of the event was our 2024 Pureinsights Hackathon, where teams of brilliant minds came together to build, test, and showcase groundbreaking AI and search solutions in a fast-paced competition.
The goal of the Hackathon was simple yet ambitious: to develop an innovative AI-powered search application in just a few hours. With creativity and technical expertise at the forefront, teams worked tirelessly to bring their ideas to life, leveraging our Discovery Platform and various AI technologies to craft solutions that could redefine enterprise search.
One of the key components of Pureinsights Discovery is QueryFlow, which enables developers to access data sources and integrate with AI language models such as ChatGPT and search platforms such as Solr, Elasticsearch, or MongoDB Atlas Search to build AI-powered applications.
Four teams competed in the Hackathon, each assigned a dataset randomly from the following categories:
The goal was to build a tool based on the given dataset, with no restrictions other than using Discovery QueryFlow.
The winning project, AI Configuration Assistant, was designed to enhance the developer experience by leveraging technical API documentation to provide coding assistance. The solution added an intelligence layer to the available QueryFlow API documentation, helping developers understand how to use the tool when developing AI applications.

The 2024 Pureinsights Hackathon demonstrated just how much can be accomplished with Pureinsights Discovery in a single day. The winning team’s AI Configuration Assistant is a testament to the power and flexibility of our platform, showcasing how quickly developers can build practical AI-powered solutions. Seeing these results in such a short time reinforces the immense potential of Discovery to accelerate innovation in AI and search applications.
